Vintage Swedish Laidback Three Seat Velvet Sofa by Folke Ohlsson for DUX

A really handsome, super stylish sofa from renowned Swedish maker, DUX. DUX was founded by celebrated furniture designer, Folke Ohlsson, from America where he worked from the early fifties onward. His designs are characterised by their considered, clean aesthetic and he was a master of creating comfort with his seating, getting the tilt, proportions and contours exactly right. And this sofa showcases just that. It’s look and feel is relaxed, laid-back and a little bit slouchy. With plump feather-filled cushions that are soft and squidgy, the comfort of this sofa is blissful. You’ll find it hard to leave its soft, tactile embrace! We love the discreet rosewood arm ends, adding a dark, sophisticated note of distinction to this sofa. A fine quality Scandinavian piece with an excellent pedigree and in a neutral coloured, crowd-pleasing fabric.

Description

This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been checked, the upholstery vacuumed and the rosewood arm ends given a polish but otherwise it is all original. There are six separate cushions with plump, feather inners which gives them a particular squidgy, relaxed look and feel. The velvet upholstery on the cushions is in very good order with nothing to flag. The fixed upholstery on the sofa frame is in good order too, hugging the frame’s shape tightly and with no areas of concern or wear to flag. The velvet is a touch sun faded across its cushions and front – this isn’t noticeable until you view the back which is a little more pinky in colour, the original tone. There are some flat spots, indentations and light signs of wear to the velvet pile but these are few – do browse our photos for a good sense of its order. The DUX label is in place below the seat cushions. The sofa is very well-made, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or areas of concern.
