Vintage Industrial Zinc Topped Oak Table / Work Bench #2
Such a quirky piece with bags of character, it originates from a school or academic institution. With its striking silver zinc top and solid oak base, it’s rather industrial and that’s exactly its appeal. The zinc bears the marks of its former life and this lasting patination is just fantastic. It was most likely used in the science labs or home economics as a student work bench. The height is a touch taller than a standard table – usually around 70-72cm, this is 74.5cm – in line with its original use, but it makes the perfect table for two. Solidly made in oak, built to take life’s knocks, it would a fantastic, functional talking point in the modern home.
Description
This original, vintage table is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned and the zinc top surface polished. As you can see when you browse our photos, the zinc top is heavily marked with use – this patination is very much part of its appeal and character. The oak frame and legs have minor scuffs and marks from use but in line with what we would expect with this kind of ex-school piece. It’s really well made, robust and sturdy with no signs of repair. Sadly there is no maker’s mark. Please browse our photos for a good sense of this unusual piece.
