Vintage G Plan ‘Fresco’ Teak Round Extending Dining Table
G Plan made robust, handsome every-day furniture for the busy, modern home and the fact its pieces are still so highly regarded, in such good order and going strong through generations is a testament to their quality. From its Fresco range, designed by VB Wilkins, this round dining table in teak with an subtly darker afromosia edge is in fantastic condition and would be a perfect family dining table, comfortably seating four as a round. It extends with a hidden, fold-out central panel for when there are six guests for dinner. Thoughtfully designed with long, tapered legs, it’s a classic midcentury acquisition.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good – excellent, used condition. The table has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied, but otherwise the original finish has been left alone as it’s in such fantastic order. To extend the table to full capacity for six diners the two halves are pulled apart to reveal the folded extension underneath. This then fans out flat and the two sides are pushed back together for a seamless table top. All mechanisms, runners and hinges are in very good, working order. There is nothing to flag other than very minor, superficial marks here and there on the top and legs, in line with its age and function. It’s a very well-made table that’s solid and sturdy. Part of the G Plan label is still in place on the extension.
