Vintage G Plan 1960s Brandon Oak Dressing Table by E Gomme

Designed by E Gomme for G Plan as part of its Brandon range in the early 1960s, this is a fine example of the archetypal, vintage dressing table. It features three spacious drawers and a recessed top surface generous enough for all manner of perfumes, lotions and powders, plus there are two further mini drawers which curve out to reveal hidden sections at the back. A quirky, little detail! The mirror can be angled back and forth to get the perfect angle. If you wished, the mirror and its supports can be removed to leave you with a neat chest of drawers that will stand flat against the wall. We particularly love the golden oak finish of the early Brandon range, a refreshing change from the darker, more commonly used teak midcentury furniture of the day.

This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces to refresh its original finish. It features three drawers, two-over-one, which slide with ease, are well crafted with dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors. The top left drawer is velvet-lined and sectioned. There are two further miniature drawers on either side of the cut-away section which feature hidden compartments at the back as shown. The mirror can be angled by gently pulling the bottom handle forward. The hinges at the back are in good working order. If you wished to, the mirror, back trim and two uprights can be easily removed. There are no visible repairs to this dressing table which is very solid and sturdy. As you would expect from G Plan it’s a very well-made piece. There are some very light scuffs and marks from use here and there but nothing to flag. It’s in super order. The original E Gomme for G Plan gold stamp can be seen inside the top drawer.
