Vintage Ercol Windsor Model 384 Drop Leaf Oval Dining Table
The iconic Windsor design of Ercol’s 384 dining table has stood the test of time – this piece dates from the 1970s with a beautiful, honey-toned ‘blonde’ English elm top sitting on four long, beech splayed legs. Windsor tables are characterised by their soft edges that gently fall away. It’s an expertly balanced and harmonious piece of midcentury design. The drop leaves are extended with a simple pull mechanism on the underside. With the leaves down, it’s a compact table that will tuck tidily against the wall with space at either end of two. When required, it extends to a generous oval that can comfortably accommodate four. And you can of course just have one of the leaves up too. Ercol furniture is synonymous with good design, quality materials and craftsmanship and is built for last.
Description
These are original, vintage table is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The table has been cleaned and the table top carefully restored to its former glory without removing all the character and age. As you can see from our photos the grain is particularly fine, following it being stripped, sanded, oiled and wax polished to give it a durable satin finish. It carries some light scuffs and marks as you might expect with a vintage piece but nothing to call out. It is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair. The drop leaves extend by lifting and pulling out the arms underneath. All mechanisms and hinges are in very good, working order. Sadly the blue Ercol sticker is no longer affixed.
