Vintage Ercol Model 469 Bureau / Serving Cabinet

This is such a classic piece of Ercol furniture that continues to stand the test of time. Originally designed in the 1960s and superbly crafted in solid elm, this bureau /serving cabinet (what Ercol officially called it) is in great original condition. And it can effectively function as a drinks cabinet too. It features a ‘fall’ pull-down door which reveals a sectioned, upper cupboard and the door creates a desk for working or mixing drinks. Below is a spacious two-door cabinet with an adjustable shelf, and generous, lower single drawer underneath. This multi-functional, versatile piece of furniture provides a lot of storage space and its clever, classic design means it’s not overtly a drinks cabinet or bureau – it could be used in any room from kitchen to bedroom or study. This particular piece dates from the 1970s.

Description

This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good – very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned the cabinet, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such great order. It features Ercol’s signature visible dovetail joints on its corners and the doors and fall are fitted with full length hinges. The top cupboard interior is sectioned and is in clean, tidy order inside. Note: the smaller left hand shelf in the top section is not in place. The lower two-door cupboard has a single adjustable shelf. There is a full width drawer at the bottom which slides with ease and it sits on the original shepherd castors to give good mobility. All interior wood is in very good, clean order, with just minor signs of use. Likewise, the exterior wood is in very good order too, with only light marks here and there in line with its age and purpose.
