Vintage Ercol Model 459 Windsor Plank Coffee Table
An iconic piece of British midcentury design from Lucian Ercolani, this Windsor ‘plank’ coffee table will add instant style and kudos to any modern interior. It has a blond elm top with the most beautiful grain and beech splayed legs, and underneath is a slatted magazine shelf for your periodicals and papers. This Ercol coffee table is characterised by its softly tapered, English elm table top that gently slopes off. There is no hard edge or angle, the design just flows. Set in front of the family couch, place it by a favourite lounge chair or let it take centre stage in the middle of your living room, wherever this piece goes it’s practical and unobtrusive. A classic piece of furniture that’s instantly recognisable and will never go out of fashion.
Description
This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the table and carefully restored the table top, a partial restoration. It has been stripped and refinished with oil and a final wax polish. There remains a very faint yellow stain but overall, it’s in super order and this is barely noticeable – please refer to our photo. The legs and magazine rack have had a natural beeswax polish applied to restore shine but otherwise the finish on these sections is original as it’s in such fantastic order. The table is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair. There is no maker’s label in place anymore but this is immediately recognisable as and unequivocally Ercol.
