Vintage Ercol Model 459 Windsor Coffee Table

An instantly recognisable piece of British midcentury design from Lucian Ercolani, this 1970s Windsor ‘plank’ coffee table is in great order with just light wear and tear. It has a blond, English elm top with the most beautiful, rich grain, something that sets vintage Ercol wood apart from its more contemporary pieces. The table top has been lightly restored – we love the signature, softly tapered edges. There are short beech legs and a slatted magazine shelf underneath for your periodicals. Set in front of the family couch, place it by a favourite lounge chair or let it take centre stage in the middle of your living room, wherever this piece goes it’s practical and unobtrusive. A classic piece of furniture that will never go out of fashion.

Description

This is an original, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The table top has been carefully restored without being too invasive and removing all the character and age. Consequently, there are still some very light marks visible here and there, where items have been placed but as you can see across our photos, in the overall context of the table, they are barely visible. The grain on the table top is richly patterned and honey-toned, a specific characteristic of vintage Ercol wood. It has been stripped, sanded, oiled and wax polished to give it a durable satin finish. The beech legs and lower magazine rack have been cleaned and wax polished. It is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair.  Sadly the blue Ercol sticker is no longer in place. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of condition and tone.
