Handsome Edwardian Satinwood Chest of Drawers with Brass Handles
A smart, good-looking satinwood chest of drawers dating from the Edwardian era. Nicely constructed in solid wood, it comes with knocks and wear which add to its old-fashioned, country cottage charm. We love the decorative brass plate handles. With its blond good looks and an unfussy, refined design, it will happily sit alongside more contemporary furniture of different styles and wood tones. We’re always charmed by impressive, vintage pieces of well-made furniture like this.
Description
This is an original, vintage chest of drawers that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good, used condition. We have given the piece a thorough clean inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but have otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s very much part of its character in our opinion. The three drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and are in clean and tidy inside. The external wood carries numerous marks, knocks and scuffs in line with its considerable age and use – please do scrutinise our photos for a good sense of the finish and colour. As you can see in our pictures there is a some warping to the edges of the top. It’s perfectly secure and doesn’t affect the stability or function, it’s just aged as the wood has contracted and expanded over the seasons and years. It’s well-made, solid and sturdy. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a classic British vintage piece.
