Vintage Edwardian Oak Chest of Drawers
We’re always charmed by old-fashioned furniture like this that has stood the test of time. Well-made in solid oak, it’s British in original and dates from the early 1900s. It comes marked, scarred and knocked but this doesn’t compromise its purpose as a solid, hard-working storage piece with three spacious drawers. It’s an every-day piece with its history and life captured on its surfaces so you don’t need to feel precious about it. Perhaps ideal for a child / teenagers room.
Description
This original, used chest of drawers is ‘sold as seen’ and is in fair – good, vintage condition. We’ve cleaned this piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood, but have otherwise left the original finish alone. The three drawers slide with ease and the six brass handles are securely affixed. Although vintage too, we don’t believe the handles are original to the chest of drawers. The interior wood of the drawers is clean but rather scruffy in places – please refer to our photo. We would recommend adding liners. The exterior wood is marked, faded and bruised, as you can clearly see from our photos. This wear is very much in line with its age. Still, it’s a well-made piece of classic British furniture.
