Vintage Danish Rosewood Omann Jun Two Door Cabinet Model #4
A stunning, Danish midcentury two door cabinet / sideboard, attributed to Omann Jun. Designed by Gunni Omann for Omann Jun, this style is model no.4 and it has a solid rosewood, rosewood veneer and mahogany construction. Clean-lined and made with exquisite attention to detail, it was designed to let the wood take centre-stage. The rich, darkly toned patina of the wood is beautiful from all sides. The proportions of this cabinet make it a really versatile piece of furniture. Not as large as a sideboard but bigger than a standard cabinet, this could be used for a multitude of storage options in a home from kitchen and family room to home office and lounge. Also on the top you will notice the subtle divide between the solid rosewood and mahogany. This isn’t a repair but part of how the piece was made. Often another layer was added on top of this base, hence the rosewood being used as the front only as the back would’ve been hidden
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the sideboard and applied a natural beeswax polish. The doors move with ease on their hinges and their closures are in good order. Inside the cabinet are three adjustable shelves and two felt-lined drawers, all in good order, and all clean and tidy inside. The exterior wood is in very good condition overall, the rosewood door fronts and the top surface in particular are in excellent order with only very minor, light age-related marks. There are marks on the bottom plinth, shown in our photos, along with a small chip on the bottom right front corner. It’s not wildly noticeable but we have shown it in a photo. The original Omann Jun sticker with model number is affixed inside the door.
