Vintage Danish Blue Velvet Two Seat Sofa / Love Seat with Tassels

This little, vintage sofa is a poppet. Made for two, its high sides and back make it perfect for an alcove, a bay window, a snug or a dull corner that could do with an interesting functional feature. Upholstered in a sky blue velvet, it’s in sound vintage condition with just light signs of use. A Danish original, this style of seat is referred to as a ‘London sofa’ there but no one really knows why! A more traditional, old-fashioned design than we would normally expect from midcentury Denmark but it’s a charmer and these more decorative pieces, with their neat proportions and quirky details, like those tassels around the bottom edge, are great standalone pieces.

Description

This is an original, vintage sofa that are ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have given the piece a thorough vacuum and frame check but have carried out no further restoration work as it’s in such great order.  The original blue velvet upholstery is in good condition throughout. As is the way with vintage velvet, there are some flat spots and indentations to the pile across the sofa’s surfaces which can be seen across our various photos. There is also some light fabric wear to the arm tops and back edge, commonly the points that bear the brunt of wear and tear – please refer to our photos. The brass studs are nailed in place throughout. The decorative fringe is in very good order with no strands frayed or missing. The frame is solid and sturdy, well-made with no signs of repair or joint concerns. There is no maker’s mark on the sofa but it’s imported directly from Denmark. We offer FREE LOCAL DELIVERY within a 15 mile radius of CB9 7XU – please get in touch prior to purchase to discuss. Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with our delivery partners who cover most of the country (please enquire for Scotland or remote addresses). They are reliable and insured, and we have worked with them for many years. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later. Please be aware the delivery service we can offer does require some flexibility as the drivers work to predetermined routes with other delivery obligations, but they will keep you updated directly regarding their anticipated timings. You are also welcome to collect (we’re based in Haverhill, Suffolk) and we’re happy to hold pieces after purchase while you make collection arrangements and consider your options.
