Vintage Danish Black Leather Two Seat Sofa
A neatly proportioned but classically Scandinavian, midcentury two seater sofa in a soft, supple, inky black leather. The sleek, tidy design is undoubtedly influenced by Borge Morgensen. Its profile is low and clean-cut but it doesn’t compromise on comfort. It’s great for lounging on. It’s in fantastic order, ready to slot effortlessly into a new home. This neutral, go-with-anything black leather and design means it can accompany other sofas and chairs of different styles and colours without competing. Or it can work as a standalone piece in an open plan space as it looks so good from all sides.
Description
This original, preloved sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The leather upholstery has been surface cleaned with a specialist, nourishing cleaner and the sofa has been thoroughly vacuumed. The black leather upholstery is in very good order on the cushions – it’s thick, soft and supple. There are six in total with working zips and plump inners, all in very good order. There are very minor signs of wear to the seat cushion tops, a little wrinkling and some light marks here and there but this is a feature of used leather and very much part of its character and appeal. The fixed leather on the sofa frame is also in good order. It’s a little baggy across the back panel but we don’t feel it’s of great concern or affects its good looks greatly, especially if you intend to set it against a wall – please browse our photos. There are minor surface scuffs to the light beech legs. The sofa is superbly constructed, with no wobbles, creaks or signs of repair. It’s imported directly from Denmark and most likely dates from the late 1970s / early 1980s. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a fine, quality sofa made with superior construction and top quality leather.
