Vintage British 1960s Teak Book Case by Herbert E Gibbs

A no-nonsense, utilitarian vintage bookcase by British maker, Herbert Gibbs, with plentiful display space for your books and treasures. The upper section no longer has its glass doors in place (often a historical casualty with these particular pieces), but this can be seen as a positive in our view as the open top shelves mean greater versatility as they can house items that spill out the front, such as plants, large books and more. The generous width but shallow depth make this a fantastic storage option where you don’t want shelves that will intrude into the room too much. We think this could be put to great use in a child or students’ bedroom, or indeed a hallway or landing.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good – very good, used condition but it no longer has the upper glass sliding doors in place. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied.  There are two height adjustable shelves in both the lower and upper bookcases. These shelves and the interior wood are all in very good, clean and tidy order. The glass doors slide on their grooves with ease and are in good order too. There are very light signs of wear and tear to the exterior wood, to be expected with a vintage item. It’s well made with no signs of repair or areas of concern. The Herbert Gibbs label is in place on the back of the piece.
