Vintage 1970s Danish Hove Mobler Tall Brown Leather ‘Skyline’ Armchair
A very handsome, vintage Danish ‘Skyline’ chair made by Hove Mobler in the 1970s. With its tall back, cantilevered frame and deep tilt, it’s a really indulgent, comfortable chair offering great support. The deep brown leather is soft, supple and in immaculate condition, and it looks great partnered with the rich, dark tones of the bentwood frame. Chairs of this style have a particularly striking, organic form with their open curves and lines – they aren’t ‘heavy-set’ like many conventional lounge chairs. Partner with other lounge seating or use as a stand-alone chair in a bedroom or office.
Description
This original piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The leather upholstery – a single three-part cushion – has been checked and surface cleaned. The buttons are secure, the inners are plump and the zip working. The original leather itself is thick, lightly wrinkled and in good order with no areas of concern, however, it looks as it a coloured leather product has been used previously to nourish it and under close scrutiny, you can see a little colour variance here and there. It’s not very noticeable at all – which our photos show – but in the interests of transparency, we wanted to point this out. The cushion fixes to the frame with poppers at the top back and front seat edge. The vinyl seat and straps underneath the cushion are in very good order. The wooden frame has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The frame is in excellent order. It’s superbly constructed, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or creaks. There are some very light scuffs here and there but nothing to call out. There is no maker’s mark on the frame but we know this to be a Hove Mobler design as part of its Skyline range, and dates from the the 1970s.
