Vintage 1960s Nathan Teak Sideboard / Compact Highboard
If you love the tall, statement highboard look but don’t have the room height or width to accommodate one, this midcentury gem from British maker, Nathan, is for you. It’s a compact, mini sideboard over two storeys, packing in huge amounts of storage across its cupboards and drawers. It even has a bookcase and drinks cabinet too. Its original condition is outstanding given its 60+ years. It’s been loved and cherished. Substantial storage and superbly crafted, this is a special find with many Scandinavian-inspired features like the long legs and the curve where the top section joins the bottom.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The piece has been cleaned, inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied and buffed on the external surfaces, but otherwise the finish is original. All handles, hinges, doors and closures are in very good, working order. All interiors are clean and tidy with nothing to flag. The lower double door cupboard features a fixed shelf. The top drawer is sectioned and lined, originally intended for cutlery. The glass door bookcase features a glass, adjustable shelf. The doors are in good order and slide easily in their runners. The fall-door drinks cabinet features Formica back for mixing drinks on. There are very light, superficial knocks and scuffs to the exterior wood surfaces but nothing to flag. It’s an extremely well-made piece and the original Nathan label can be seen inside the cupboard door. Please do browse our photos for an accurate sense of its colour and superb condition.
