Handsome Vintage 1960s Teak Wardrobe by AH McIntosh

This freestanding, double door wardrobe was designed by Tom Robertson as part of his 1960’s ‘Dunvegan’ range for AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy. McIntosh was revered for its quality craftsmanship and using fine wood and this is evident here. The striped patina on the front doors and sides of this wardrobe is everything, the main event. And the overall design is minimalist and refined – we love the oh-so-subtle curves to the front borders and the elegant legs which make this large piece appear less bulky. Open the doors to find plentiful clothes storage inside with a rail for hanging and cubby holes for stowing. It’s in fantastic, original condition.

Description

This original, vintage wardrobe is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it’s in good – very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out and applied a natural wax polish to the exterior wood surfaces. The two doors swing open and close with ease with hinges in good working order, internal bolts at the top and bottom of the left hand door, and with a working lock and key. Inside, there are fixed shelves on the right and a metal hanging rail on the left, and it’s clean and tidy. There are light signs of wear and tear to the exterior surfaces – minor knocks, scuffs and some sunlight fading here and there as you would expect with a used, vintage item of furniture. Do browse our photos for a good sense of this. It is very well-made, solid and sturdy. It should be noted this is a large, heavy item so do bear access in mind if you are considering buying.
