Vintage 1960s G Plan ‘Fresco’ Extending Oval Teak Dining Table
You simply can’t go wrong with a G Plan’s dining table if you’re looking for a well-crafted, hard-wearing piece that’s going to see every day action in your home. From its ever-popular Fresco range, this extending dining table is sturdy and substantial, constructed in teak and with a contrasting, darker table rim. It’s a generous oval for four to six depending on the dining chairs and we always think oval is the best shape for encouraging inclusive conversation over dinner! It can switch up for bigger entertaining too with G Plan’s patented, hidden extension. Pull the two sides apart and fan out the extension to comfortably accommodate eight dinner guests. This table comes in super condition having had its table top restored.
Description
This is an original, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The table has been checked, cleaned and table top has been restored. This involved carefully stripping the original finish followed by oil and wax. The extension section, table border / base and legs have been buffed with a natural beeswax polish but otherwise the finish is original here. The extension is housed within the middle section. The two table halves pull apart and the extension rotates and folds out. The two sides are then pushed back in to create a seamless table top. The hinges, foldout mechanism and runners are all in good working order. The extension is a touch darker than the two sides, a common issue with vintage tables. It’s simply because it’s been used less and hasn’t been as exposed to sunlight so hasn’t faded and worn in quite the same way as the main table top. Overall, the table is in very good order with just minor signs of wear and tear. It’s a very well-made piece that’s weighty, solid and sturdy. The G Plan label can be seen underneath.
