Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, and a natural wax polish applied to the external wood. The drawer slides with ease and has a clean, tidy interior. The top desk section featured pigeon holes and again, it’s in good clean, tidy order throughout. The hinges for the pull-down door / desk are in good working order too. There are some minor scuffs, sunlight fading and knocks to the exterior wood surfaces – please refer to our photos which give an accurate sense of its condition. There were originally two caps on either side of the small ledge so when the desk door is down and lent on, the wood is protected. These have been removed at some point, leaving a small mark but it doesn’t affect the function of the desk in anyway. It’s very well made, solid and stable. The Elliotts of Newbury label is no longer in place but it’s a well-documents piece so we attribute it with confidence and dates from the 1960s.
