Vintage 1960s Austinsuite Tall Chest of Drawers
Made in the mid-late 1960s and designed by Frank Guille for British furniture maker, Austinsuite, this is a particularly elegant, tall chest of drawers with slimline proportions and a clean, refined design. It sits on long, tapered legs, there are six teak drawers of differing sizes, providing practical storage space for whichever room this piece lives in and although tall, it’s not particularly deep so will sit discreetly against the wall without demanding space. It’s beautifully crafted in teak veneer that’s richly toned and in fantastic condition, but it’s the contrasting stripe of rosewood across the drawer fronts which serve as hidden handles that elevate this chest of drawers and add a note of distinction. A beautiful, considered piece of British midcentury furniture.
Description
This is an original, vintage chest of drawers that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. We have cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but have otherwise left the original finish well alone. All six drawers slide with ease and are in good, clean order inside. All exterior surfaces, including the top, are in good – very good condition with only light superficial marks and scratches here and there, in line with the piece’s age. This chest of drawers is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair. The maker’s stamp can be seen inside the top drawer.
