Vintage 1950s Turnidge Walnut Drinks Cocktail Cabinet

By day, a smart, Art Deco-style vintage cabinet; by night, a drinks / cocktail mixing station with a fold-out, light-up bar top! Vintage bars may not be an essential piece of furniture for a modern home, but if you have the space, we can highly recommend indulging yourself because they are so much fun, they bring the party and always grab attention when put to use. What we love about this particular one is that it’s not too obviously a bar when closed. Made by Turnidge of London who were renowned for their drinks cabinets, this is a model dating from the 1950s in beautiful burr walnut veneer. Pull the top handle down and the mirrored, illuminated bar is revealed. Below is generous storage for bottles and glasses.

Description

This original, vintage cabinet is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned it, inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise the lacquered finish is original. The upper section features a mirrored bar with the fall door creating a drinks mixing platform. The original lemon juicer is in place, along with six metal cocktail sticks. All hinges, fixtures and handles are securely attached and in good, working ordered. The top section is illuminated. We have rewired it and it’s now PAT tested too. The lower double door cupboard is clean and tidy inside with just light signs of use – the odd ring mark. There is a recessed fixed shelf. The original brass handles are securely attached, and the doors, closures and hinges are in good working order. There is a working lock and key. There are some scuffs and scratches to the external finish, primarily on the top – please refer to our photos.  It’s well-made, solid and sturdy with no signs of structural repair or areas of concern. The Turnidge maker’s plaque can be found on the inside door.
