Vintage 1950s Danish Mink Velvet Two Seater Sofa
Add a touch of vintage glamour to a room with this sweet, little velvet sofa / love seat. Danish in origin, it’s very similar to Frits Henningsen sofas in style and detail but we cannot 100% attribute it to him. Its elegant design is accentuated with piping and back buttons which draws your eye over its lines and contours. We love the curve of the front seat edge and the voluptuous roll of the arms. The original velvet upholstery is in remarkably good order given its years. It’s been well taken care of in its former life. The colour is hard to describe… it’s a little pink, a little golden, a little minky but however you would describe it, it’s undoubtedly neutral so great for partnering with other neutrals and textures, or for sitting amongst bright, bold colour and pattern. With a taller back, it offers reliable support and comfort but with a tidy width and depth, this neat sofa doesn’t demand much room. And as such, it makes it a versatile seating option for any room in the house from lounge to hallway to landing to bedroom.
Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good – very good, used condition. The piece has been thoroughly vacuumed and checked but otherwise left well alone as it’s in such great shape. The original minky / golden velvet upholstery is in very good order, hugging the contours of the frame tightly and all the piping and buttons are securely attached. There is just very light wear to the velvet which you can get a good sense of browsing our photos – nothing to call out, other than a very faint line around the bottom edge where it looks as it the original trim / tassels have been removed. The wooden legs carry some superficial knocks but are otherwise in good order. The frame itself is solidly built with no wobbles or joint concerns.
