Vintage 1930s Tall Oak Glazed Cabinet
Most likely originally used in the kitchen / scullery as a crockery cupboard or pantry, this is a fine, traditional piece of 1930s British domestic furniture that can be repurposed in all manner of ways. Tall but shallow in depth, it stands to attention against the wall giving plentiful storage. With two upper drawers and a large lower cupboard with shelves, this could serve as a bookcase, display cabinet, hallstand, bathroom cupboard and more. It’s crafted in solid oak that’s aged to a lovely golden patina.
Description
This original, vintage cabinet is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned this piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the external wood surfaces to revive it a little but otherwise the finish is original. It features two top drawers which both slide with ease, are well-made and have clean, tidy interiors. The lower glazed cupboard has two doors with hinges, glass and closures all in good order. There are two shelves are fixed inside and the interior is in good order with light signs of use. The round, brass plate handles are original and are securely attached. The exterior surfaces have minor knocks, marks and scuffs which can be seen across our photos but this is very much in line with its age and part of its character. It’s a wonderfully crafted piece that’s solid and stable with no repairs or areas of concern.
