Vintage 1930s Art Deco Oak Nest of Five Tables

Just tipping into antique territory is this round table nest comprising of a main ‘mother’ table and a quartet of little side tables that cleverly tuck underneath. It dates from the 1920s-1930s and there is a very obvious nod to the Art Deco movement in its design. Made in oak, it’s a thoughtfully crafted set – when stowed, the small tables are actually elevated a touch off the ground so they can be easily pulled in and out over a rug. A quirky set with a great deal of character.

Description

This original, vintage nest of tables is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good, used condition. The table have been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied but otherwise the finish is original. The quartet of small side tables cleverly slot into little runners underneath the main table. This elevates them a little above the ground so they are floating, making them easy to slide in and out over carpet or a rug. As you can see from our photos, the finish is worn here and there and there are minor scuffs and dents as you might expect with a piece of this considerable age. We wonder if someone has sanded the tops at some point. No maker’s mark but British in origin and very much of the 1920s / 1930s Art Deco period. A nicely crafted set with no areas of concern or repair.
