Unusual Vintage Danish Tan Leather & Black Bentwood Three Seat Sofa
A really unusual Danish bentwood three seat sofa, the design is simplicity itself, creating a dramatic, sharp-lined silhouette from all angles. It doesn’t compromise its comfort for a moment – the tilt of the three hung seats with loungy-but-supportive suspension and the soft, supple leather seat cushions make it perfect for sprawling and kicking back. The open design means it appears to be less space-demanding, creating lots of lightness in and around its form compared to a regular three seater, helpful for a smaller room. A fantastic, clever piece of midcentury design from the 1970s and in very good order, we love the over-sized square tan buttons that exaggerate the plumpness of the cushions perfectly against the black lines of the bentwood frame.
Description
This original piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The three, tan leather, sectioned cushions have been given a thorough surface clean. They simply sit in place on the frame with no fastenings. The cushions are in excellent order with plump, soft inners and securely attached buttons. There are very light signs of wear to the cushions, a little wrinkling but this is a feature of used leather and very much part of its character and appeal. The canvas that forms the three seats is in very good order with just light sunlight fading on the back. The bentwood frame has no wobbles, creaks or signs of repair. There are some minor chips here and there to the black finish but nothing to call out. Sadly there is no maker’s mark. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of its condition.
