Traditional Vintage Danish 1960s Green Velvet Armchair with Tassels
Staying true to our ethos of acquiring pieces we would love in our own home, we rather fell in love with this pretty, vintage armchair. Something of a departure from our usual classic, leather midcentury seats, this Danish piece hails from the 1960s / early 1970s. The olive green velvet does carry some light signs of wear and tear but it’s still vibrant, soft and plush with much to offer – have a browse of our photos to see for yourself. We think it’s in great condition given its considerable years. With neat proportions, on-trend colour and charming, elegant details, it would be perfect to cheer up a dull bedroom, study or hallway with its faded glamour. And it’s really comfortable too with a sprung seat cushion giving buoyancy and support, and long, rolled arms.
Description
This is an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have given the chair a thorough vacuum and check but have otherwise left the upholstery alone. As you can see from our photos, the original olive green velvet is a touch worn in places, most notably on the arms, which usually bear the brunt of wear and tear. It’s not threadbare and there’s much life left in this hard-wearing fabric though. The braid piping and buttons are securely fixed in place. The decorative fringe is in good order with no strands frayed or missing. The chair frame is structurally sound and solid with no signs of repair. It was imported directly from Denmark and the style and build lead us to believe it most likely dates from the 1960s / 1970s. Please browse our photos for good sense of its colour and order.
