Swedish Midcentury 1970s Green Corduroy Three Seater Sofa

A seriously lazy, low and loungy couch that originates from Sweden and dates from the seventies. And you can tell, lounge seating design got a lot more voluptuous, exaggerated and OTT during this decade. There is a strong chance it’s by Yngve Ekström who had many very similar designs but we cannot definitively attribute it as such. The on-show pine wooden frame looks striking from all sides, perhaps rather Brutalist in design. We love the original, olive green corduroy upholstery, studded with large buttons and with really deep, rounded cushions and arm rolls. We have the accompanying chair available too and they are listed as a pair at a discounted price, as well as listed separately.

Description

This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have applied a natural beeswax polish to the solid pine frame but otherwise, we have left the original finish alone. As you can see from our many photos, the wooden frame does carry light knocks, scuffs and signs of use but this is minor overall. The six seat and back cushions are in good order with plump inners, working zips and securely attached buttons. The fabric on one of the buttons has been repaired but this is on the underside so doesn’t show – please refer to our photo. The cushions simply rest in place and the arm rests are fixed. The original olive green corduroy upholstery is in very good order throughout with few signs of use or wear. The canvas under the seat cushions is in good order too but there is a repair on the left hand side to flag where there looks to have been split – please refer to our photo. There is no maker’s stamp we’ve spotted but it’s Swedish in origin and dates from the 1970s. There’s a strong chance it’s by Yngve Ekström but we cannot definitively attribute it as such.
