Swedish Midcentury 1970s Green Corduroy Lounge Suite

A seriously lazy, low and loungy pair, comprised of an armchair and a three seater sofa, that originated from Sweden, may well be by Yngve Ekström and dates from the seventies. And you can tell, lounge seating design got a lot more voluptuous, exaggerated and OTT during this decade! The on-show pine wooden frames looks striking from all sides, and are rather Brutalist in design. We love the original, olive green corduroy upholstery, studded with large buttons and with really deep, rounded cushions and arm rolls. Acquire the pair to add instant, Scandinavian retro cool to your living room.

Description

This original, vintage set is ‘sold as seen’. Overall the sofa and armchair are in good – very good, used condition. We have applied a natural beeswax polish to the solid pine frame but otherwise, we have left the original finish alone. As you can see from our many photos, the wooden frame does carry light knocks, scuffs and signs of use but this is minor overall. The six seat and back cushions are in good order with plump inners, working zips and securely attached buttons. The fabric on one of the buttons has been repaired but this is on the underside so doesn’t show – please refer to our photo. The cushions simply rest in place and the arm rests are fixed. The original olive green corduroy upholstery is in very good order throughout with few signs of use or wear. The canvas under the seat cushions is in good order too but there is a repair on the left hand side to flag where there looks to have been split – please refer to our photo. There is no maker’s mark but it’s Swedish in origin and dates from the 1970s. There’s a strong chance it’s by Yngve Ekström but we cannot definitively attribute it as such. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of its superb condition. If you’d like to view the sofa or have any queries, just get in touch.
