Sleek Black Leather Le Corbusier Style Sofa with Chrome Frame
They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery so we view this Le Corbusier sofa copy with warmth and high regard, not least because it’s a very nicely made piece, well designed and expertly constructed. It’s giving ‘Eighties Batchelor Pad’ with its shiny, on-show chrome frame, its luxurious black leather expanses and its boxy, low profile. The cut of the couch means it’s not so much a loungy sofa, more an occasional, statement piece. In the right setting this would certainly look the part. A great option for anyone who loves the original Le Corbusier look but doesn’t have the budget!
Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have checked the sofa and surface cleaned the upholstery, applying a neutral, nourishing leather balm. The original black leather upholstery is in good order on the cushions. There are three seat cushions in total with working zips and plump, thick cushion inners. There is some wear to the finishing cloth on the underside of the cushions as shown in our photos but obviously this isn’t on show. One of the seat cushions has a superficial scratch – again we’ve shown this is and it’s not hugely visible. The fixed leather upholstery is in very good order and bolts directly to the metal frame, even though it gives the illusion of loose back and arm cushions. The chrome is in very good order throughout. The sofa is well-built, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or creaks. We don’t know anything of its origins or age – we suspect it was made in the late 20th century. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of its condition.
