Set of Six Vintage Ercol Model 449 Dining Chairs

Made from the 1960s through to the early eighties, the appeal of this particular model of Ercol dining chair endures. Probably the most desirable of the bunch, we think it’s perhaps because of how good they look from the back, tucked in around your dining table. We love the exaggerated curve of their bow tops. The seats are gently contoured and generous in width and their backs supportive in just the right measure. This set of six model 449s come in super original condition with their factory finish in great order considering their age and high-use function. Ercol becomes increasingly collectable and it’s no wonder, it’s superbly crafted and built to last lifetimes. Buying vintage Ercol is a sound investment as they hold their value and their design is classic, timeless.

Description

This original, vintage set of six chairs is ‘sold as seen’. All the chairs are in overall good – very good, used condition. The chairs have been checked, cleaned and had a natural wax polish applied to retain and revive their original finish. They are constructed in solid beech and English elm. There are some minor surface scuffs and signs of wear as you would expect with used, vintage chairs of their significant age. This is ostensibly on the bow backs, as we’ve shown in our photos. There are no wobbles or joint concerns and no repairs. The chairs have popper studs in place underneath should you wish to add Ercol cushions. They are also stamped underneath, although sadly their blue labels are no longer in place. D
