Set of Six Original Midcentury G Plan Dining Chairs by VB Wilkins
Victor Wilkins designed for G Plan in the 1960s, including the ever-popular Fresco range. His designs show a strong Scandinavian influence and were made in solid teak. These particular chairs are a rarer find, pre-dating the more common Fresco dining chair with the round seat and back pad. They have a parred-pack elegance to them with subtle curves showcasing the richly toned teak. This set of six is in great condition, including the original brown vinyl covering. Just light wear and tear, remarkable considering their age. And that’s a testament to their superior quality. Beautifully made to be robust, reliable and cope with family life, they’re a very fine set of dining chairs.

Description
This original, vintage set of six dining chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, they are in very good, used condition. The solid teak chairs frames have been thoroughly cleaned, checked and polished. They are in very good order overall. There are very minor, superficial scuffs here and there on the frames, as you might expect with furniture of this age. The original brown vinyl upholstery is in good order too. Again, there are the odd light marks but nothing to flag or that causes concern. They have plenty of life left in them as they are, but should you wish to recover them, it’s an easy job for the professional upholsterer or the hobbyist as they are just drop in seats. All six chairs are solid and stable with no areas of concern. As you can appreciate from our photos, these chairs are superbly crafted. The G Plan label is no longer affixed to the underside of the seats but they are nonetheless a very well-documented design that we attribute with 100% confidence. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of their colour and condition. If you have any questions or would like to view these chairs, do get in touch.
