Set of Four Midcentury G Plan Dining Chairs by VB Wilkins
Designed by Victor B Wilkins in the 1960s for G Plan as part of its ever-popular Fresco range, these solid teak dining chairs show a strong Scandinavian design influence. This particular model is a rarer find, pre-dating the more common Fresco dining chair with the round seat and back pad. They have a parred-pack elegance to them with subtle curves and beautiful lines from all sides. The oatmeal seat pad upholstery is in great order too with no pulls or marks – remarkable given their pale colour! British midcentury design at its best.
Description
This original, vintage set of four dining chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, they are in good, used condition. The solid teak chairs frames have been cleaned and wax polished but otherwise the original finish has been left and this is reflected in our price. They are in good order overall. There are minor, superficial scuffs and marks to the wood including some fading to the finish here and there, primarily on the backs – this is shown in our photos. As they are solid teak there is the option to complete a full restoration if you choose. The pale seat-pad upholstery is in very good order, with no pulls or unsavoury marks. Should you wish to recover them at some point, it’s an easy job for the professional upholsterer or the hobbyist as they are just drop in seats. All four chairs are solid and stable with no areas of concern.
