Rare Vintage Ercol 396 Oval Breakfast Kitchen Table
What a joy to have this table pass through our doors… it’s Ercol’s seldom seen, Model 396 breakfast table, rare because you don’t often find the oval version. There is a great deal to love including Ercol’s signature soft edges, beech splayed legs and the spindled rack underneath, great for stowing placemats or the daily newspaper. Vintage Ercol pieces like this are much more interesting than contemporary versions in our view because the solid wood grain is more varied and vividly striped. Later Ercol is rather uniform and homogenous in tone and finish. Following its careful restoration, the solid English elm table top here has been brought back to life and its golden patination is glorious. With compact dimensions compared to a standard dining table this would suit a kitchen or small dining area.

Description
This is an original Ercol, vintage table that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good – very good, used condition. It has been cleaned and thoughtfully restored so as not to remove all its age and character. It has been stripped, oiled and wax polished to give a durable satin finish. It carries some light scuffs and marks here and there including on the legs, as you might expect with a vintage piece. There was a small gap in the table top where one of the joins had dried and opened up a little (commonly seen on vintage Ercol) but this has been expertly filled and is barely visible following its restoration. It is solid and sturdy, constructed in solid elm and beech, with no wobbles or areas of concern. Please do view our photos for a good sense of the finish, super condition and grain. Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with our delivery partners who cover most of the country (please enquire for Scotland or remote addresses). They are reliable and insured, and we have worked with them for many years. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later. Please be aware the delivery service we can offer does require some flexibility as the drivers work to predetermined routes with other delivery obligations, but they will keep you updated directly regarding their anticipated timings. You are also welcome to collect (we’re based in Haverhill, Suffolk) and we’re happy to hold pieces after purchase while you make collection arrangements and consider your options.
