Rare Vintage 1960s Extending Teak Dining Table by Uniflex
A seldom-seen, elegant dining table by British furniture maker, Uniflex. It’s thoughtfully designed with gently curved sides, a slimline table top, tapering legs and brass-capped feet. The main table top is mahogany veneer which contrasts strikingly with the lighter oak frame and legs. The separate extension hides underneath, pulling out from one end. It’s then inserted into the central section to grow the table to comfortably seat six. We’ve restored the beautiful, warm grain on the table top. It comes with light wear and aging but it has plenty to offer, a solid, well-made vintage piece that dates from the 1960s. Another positive point to note is that it’s designed to be easily dismantled – the legs are can be readily unscrewed from their corners and there’s a clever space for them to secure into position underneath for reassembly when in situ. It makes this table ideal for a home with limited access or one with particularly narrow doorways.
Description
This original, vintage dining table is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good – very good, used condition. The table has been cleaned, lightly sanded and refinished with Osmo oil and a final wax polish. The extension section is hidden underneath the table top, sliding in and out at one end, as we’ve shown. To extend the table, the separate extension section is withdrawn, the two halves are pulled apart, the extension is inserted. The two sides are then pushed back together to create a seamless table top. In line with its age, there are some signs of minor wear and tear – light dents and scuffs here and there, and some minor patchiness due to sun-fading and aging on the table top. The legs are overall in very good condition and their original brass-capped feet are in place. It is expertly crafted, solid and sturdy. The maker’s mark can be seen inside the table.
