Pair of Original Vintage Ercol Goldsmith Chairs

Ercol’s vintage Goldsmith chairs are among some of their most popular. Tall and elegant with the signature ‘moustache’ top, this pair is comprised of a regular chair and a carver. And we love the curve and upturn of the arms on the carver in particular. They come in their original finish and date from the 1970s. Constructed with beech legs and English elm seats, they are solid wood so extremely robust and well-made. If you wished to fully restore them further down the line, you have that option. Originally intended to sit around kitchen table or in a dining room, we see our customers use Ercol chairs in any room of the house from bathroom to hall to bedroom as a feature piece and occasional seat.

Description

This original, vintage pair of chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, both chairs are in good, used condition. We have given the chairs a thorough clean and polish with a natural beeswax but otherwise we have left their original finish alone, such is its great order. There are minor, superficial scuffs and marks here and there, as you might expect with furniture of this age and purpose (high use!), including a scratch on the top back of the carver which we’ve clearly shown in our photos. Overall, we would class the wear and tear on the chairs as light. They are superbly crafted, stable and sturdy with no repairs. The blue label is affixed to the back of the carver chair and they are stamped underneath.
