Original Vintage 1960s Meredew Walnut Sideboard / Dressing Table

A very stylish, little dresser with lots of options for use in the modern home. Originally a dressing table (which it still can be – swipe for photos), we love it minus the mirror as a smart, compact sideboard. Equally, its height and depth mean it would be an effective console in an entrance hall or as a TV / media unit in the sitting room too. And of course, you can keep the original mirror in place on its uprights and use it as intended, as a neat dressing table with three drawers flanked by two cupboards. There are lots of design details that set this apart from others of the day – the splayed, brass-capped legs; the sleek, minimalist design; the different tone of the top drawer; but most of all, the high gloss lacquered finish which makes the dark walnut sing.

Description

This authentic, vintage dressing table is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good, used condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and polished on its exterior surfaces but otherwise the high lacquer finish is all original. There are numerous small chips, scuffs and marks to the glossy finish which can be clearly seen across our photos. They are in line with the kind of wear you might see on a piece of this age and with this particular shiny surface – it doesn’t wear so well. Unfortunately it’s hard to remedy without removing the finish entirely and starting again. We feel that in the overall context of the dressing table, the nips and marks here and there are not hugely noticeable. They don’t greatly detract from its appeal and don’t impact its function so we’ve opted to leave it. This wear and tear is reflected in our price. Do be sure to browse through our images. It is very solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair. All interiors are clean and tidy. The drawers slide easily and are well made. The legs have their brass feet in place. The frameless mirror slots onto two uprights which are simply screwed to the back. The mirror can be angled forward by pulling at its base. There is a minor chip on one corner which we have shown. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later.
