Original Vintage Swedish Three Seat Sofa by DUX

An exceptionally comfortable sofa from renowned Swedish maker, DUX. DUX was founded by celebrated furniture designer, Folke Ohlsson, from America where he worked from the early fifties onward. His designs are characterised by their considered, clean aesthetic and he was a master of creating comfort with his seating, getting the tilt, proportions and contours exactly right. And this sofa is the epitome of just that. Its comfort is outstanding. For a start there is a separate sprung section underneath the three seat cushions which gives buoyancy as you sink back. Then there is the slightly taller back, sectioned horizontally into two, with the lower section nestling into your lumbar area, providing great support. The seat depth and height have been given careful consideration too and this combined with the wide arms make this couch very inviting indeed. A fine quality Scandinavian piece with an excellent pedigree and a neutral fabric that can be dressed up or down with any colour scheme.

This vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. It has been checked and the upholstery vacuumed but otherwise it is all original. And it’s is fantastic order. There are three separate seat cushions with plump foam inners and working zips. All the fixed upholstery on the main frame is in very good condition, hugging the contours of the frame tightly and with no areas of concern or wear to flag. There are some very faint marks from use here and there mainly along the back where its rested against a wall, but as you can appreciate from browsing our photos, these are barely noticeable. The finishing underneath the seat cushions is in excellent order too. The fabric looks to be a wool in a pale brown with a thin, diagonal stripe running through it. The DUX label is in place below the seat cushions. The sofa is very well-made, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or areas of concern.
