Vintage Danish Rosewood Display Sideboard & Bookcase

Combining handsome Scandinavian good looks with home needs, this wide-but-shallow cabinet delivers open shelf display space with lots of practical storage. The upper bookcase section has two height-adjustable shelves, and the overall height of the piece means the top surface can be used as a further shelf too. The lower two cabinets have sliding doors with discreet fin handles – the right hand side features an adjustable shelf inside; the left hand side has a bank of five, small felt-lined drawers and a further shelf. Elegant and simple in design, it’s the stunning rosewood veneer that elevate this from the ordinary, with rich tones and patina across all its surfaces. It hails from Denmark, we date it to the 1970s and it’s in fantastic order. It’s a substantial piece but its neat depth at just over 28cm means it won’t butt into the room.

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the cabinet inside and out but otherwise left the original finish well alone and it’s in such good order. The upper open section is divided in two and each side has a height adjustable shelf. The lower section has two sliding doors with further adjustable shelves and a bank of five small drawers. These are in excellent order, beautifully made and felt-lined. The doors slide easily in their runners. All interior surfaces are clean and tidy. There are some light marks to the exterior finish here and there but nothing to flag. It’s very well made, solid and stable. The solid wood legs have been added at a later date. Unfortunately there is no maker’s mark but it is a Danish original, imported directly.
