Original Vintage 1963 American Playboy Magazine Bundle of Four

Very much of its time, we have a four magazine bundle of the iconic gentleman’s magazine, Playboy. This quartet are all complete, original, USA publications from 1963 – issues February, July, August and September. Founded by the flamboyant and notorious Hugh Hefner in 1953,  by 1964 Playboy was firmly established as a successful monthly publication, exceeding two million copies each and every month. These issues all feature fantastic period advertising and graphic design, vivid photography and colourful illustrations. Playboy also attracted fiction and non-fiction from many highly esteemed writers in its magazines from Roald Dahl, James Baldwin, Jack Kerouac, Ian Fleming and PG Wodehouse. There are of course centrefolds featuring topless and nude models but it should be said, that during this period, they are very tame and tasteful. These Playboy magazines offer a unique and fascinating glimpse into the early sixties and the evolving trends of this period as seen through one of history’s most famous / infamous brands. Whether you’re buying for a collection or as a unique gift, this set is sure to create a laugh and a stir. They are a slice of history.
