Original Midcentury 1960s Avalon Sideboard

A classic, British vintage piece that offers a great deal of versatility – multi-functional, it can be used as a console in an entrance hall, as a media unit for your TV and gaming in the lounge or as a sideboard in your family area or dining room. Made by Avalon and dating from the 1960s, it’s cracking quality, solid and well-constructed in teak with darker solid teak handles. The design overall is minimalistic and Scandinavian-influenced. It comes with light wear and tear but has a great deal to offer, especially given its more compact dimensions compared to other midcentury sideboards.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external surfaces but otherwise the finish is original. All three drawers slide with ease and are in good order inside with light signs of use. The top drawer is sectioned, designed for cutlery, and has been felt-lined. The two cupboards slide with ease in their runners and there is a single shelf inside. There are some small chips to the plastic runners, shown in our photos. The exterior wood overall is in good order with wear and tear as we might expect with a piece of this age. There are a few things to flag which have been shown in our pictures… some scuffs to the drawer fronts around the handles and some marks on the top surface. The sideboard is well-made, as you would expect from Avalon, stable and solid, with no signs of repair. It dates from the 1960s and also the Avalon maker’s label is no longer in place, it’s a well-documented model of theirs.
