Original Danish 1970s Gold Bubble Floor Lamp with Shorter Stem – Fully Restored

What we love about this particular Danish 1970s bubble floor lamp is its short stature. With a main stem of 112cm (they’re usually around 140cm), it’s nice to have a floor lamp at a mid-height. It makes it ideal for setting next to a piece of waist-level furniture such as a sideboard, or to have near the bed as a night light. The appeal of these bubble lamps endures. They’re wonderfully striking, sculptural pieces. Although obviously retro, their vintage charm works well in a modern room. This floor light has been carefully restored and whilst it may carry a few knocks and tarnishes here and there, these don’t detract from its appeal and function in anyway. The metallic, brushed gold finish makes a space-age statement. The spotlights can be height adjusted and angled to illuminate just the right area. It hails from Denmark, dates from the 1970s and is most probably by ES Horn but sadly there is no label in place anymore.

Description

This original, vintage floor lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition and has been fully restored with care and expertise. The lamps have been rewired with new black, fabric-braided flex, energy efficient bulbs, along with new, double switches on a floor switch, and plug, and it has PAT tested to meet modern regulations. The spotlights can be angled with the screw on the arm joints, and they can be height-adjusted on the main stem by unscrewing / tightening these arms. As you can see from our photos, the metalwork carries minor tarnishes, small dents and scratches, as does the weighted base, as you might expect with a vintage piece but these are minor and don’t in any way detract from the appeal of the piece. Indeed, they are part of its history and charm. It’s imported from Denmark, dates from the 1970s and is most likely by ES Horn.
