Original 1960s Midcentury Large Ercol Windsor Model 382 Plank Dining Table
Ercol furniture is renowned for good design, quality materials and craftsmanship, and is built for longevity. They are timeless classics. This handsome, vintage Ercol plank table from the iconic Windsor range has stood the test of time and is perhaps the most sought-after and highly prized of all their dining tables, especially this one which is the larger version at over 1.5m in length. It’s characterised by its softly tapered, solid British elm table top that gently slopes off at the edges and those long, angular splayed legs which are beech. And the patina and grain on this table top is particularly rich and beautiful, having undergone careful restoration in our workshop. This design is becoming harder, a rare, early beauty, dating from the sixties.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. The table has been cleaned and the table top carefully restored to its former glory without removing all the character and age. As you can see from our photos the grain is particularly fine, following it being stripped, sanded, oiled and waxed to give it a durable satin finish. This table is the largest version of the single-piece, table-top ‘plank’ range and it will comfortably sit six people when given space. There are very minor, superficial surface marks and imperfections to the top surface and legs but nothing specific to call out and these are as you would expect with a piece of this age. The table is sturdy and solid with no signs of repair. The blue Ercol stickers are still attached to the underside of the table, dating it to the 1960s.
