Norwegian 1970s Tall Leather Westnofa Armchair by Ingmar Relling

A smart, stylish, Norwegian, 1970’s armchair, made by Westnofa Furniture and designed by Ingmar Relling. The original leather has been fully restored, hence its ‘almost new’ good looks. Its floating, curvaceous shape combines striking profile with super comfort, its tilt and suspension providing great support. We love the safari-style, hanging arms and the warm colour of brown leather.  These chairs offer an excellent alternative to bulkier, more traditional lounge chairs, with their open form and more compact proportions taking up less space.

Description

This is an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The wooden chair frame has been cleaned with a natural beeswax polish and the single, sectioned leather cushion has been fully restored. We did not undertake this restoration ourselves but our supplier did – the original brown leather was cleaned and then recoloured with a lovely mid brown stain. This has then been sealed to give a durable, hard-wearing finish. There are of course some wrinkles to the leather but these are minimal and what you would expect from vintage leather. The cushion has working zips and the stitched sections are in very good order. The finishing canvas that the leather cushion sits upon is in good order but it should be noted that there is a faint water mark on the right hand side – please refer to our photo. The cord that straps the seat and cushion in place is in very good order. The light beech bentwood frame is structurally sound and sturdy.  There are some minor scuffs and scratches here and there in line with its age. Sadly there is no maker’s label in place but we attribute this to Ingmar Relling with confidence. It’s a well documented design.
