Midcentury Early 1960s Wrighton Compact Teak Sideboard / Dresser
Made by Wrighton, a highly reputable British fine furniture maker, this particular dresser model with its signature design details is a rare find, dating from the early 1960s. It’s superior in quality with some beautifully executed and highly original features, like the inset round handles and the striking octagonal legs set at the very corners, a design detail we love. It’s a vintage piece that could serve well in so many different settings in the modern family home. Use as a sideboard, a media stand, a hallway credenza, a vanity table, bedroom storage – it’s more compact proportions will fit in anywhere.
Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, and the exterior surfaces have been restored – carefully sanded, oil waxed and polished. This restoration aims to bring vintage pieces back to life without removing every last mark and dent – we never want to be too invasive when we restore because so often this strips away the charm and narrative. The four drawers slide with ease, are constructed beautifully with dovetail joints and have clean and tidy interiors. It’s a very well-made piece, as you would expect from Wrighton, that we believe dates from the early 1960s. It’s stable and solid with no signs of repair. There is no maker’s label / mark but the signature design of the handles and legs attribute this to Wrighton.
