Midcentury Danish Optima Spotlight Floor Lamp by Hans Due for Fog & Mørup
Designed by Hans Due for cutting-edge, Danish, modern lighting maker, Fog & Mørup, this double spotlight has an outstanding pedigree. Part of his ‘Optima 4’ range, it features two of his signature, flat-fronted, trumpet spotlights on a tall, stainless stem and with a matching brown weighted base. They have their original chocolate brown finish with a white interior giving a gentle, warm glow. The spotlights can be height-adjusted, angled and rotated on the stem and arms. We have fully restored this piece so that it’s compliant and tested, and it comes with discreet independent floor switches. This is statement lighting at its very finest, an iconic piece of Scandinavian mid century design.
Description
This original, vintage floor lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition and has been fully restored with care and expertise. It has energy efficient bulbs, a new floor switch with independent switches for each spotlight, and a new plug. It has been PAT tested to meet modern regulations. The spotlights can be carefully moved up and down the main stem, and their arms are jointed for angling and rotating. As you can see from our photos, it’s in fantastic order with only very light tarnishes to the metal spotlights, primarily on the rim but barely noticeable. There are very minor dents and scratches on the stem and weighted base, but again this is light and as you might expect with a vintage piece. There is no maker’s label but this is a well-known design and maker so we attribute it with confidence. It comes from Denmark and dates from the late 1960s / early 1970s.
