Description
This original, vintage armchair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been checked, vacuumed and a natural beeswax polish applied to the wooden frame. The seat cushion features a sprung unit inside – a sign of quality – and it’s in good order with working zip. The original head cushion simply slots on and ties at the back. You can opt to have this on or not. The rest of the upholstery is fixed and is in good order throughout. There is a little loss of shape along the top back in line with its age but this is minor and doesn’t affect the look or comfort of the chair – please see our photos. The deep brown wool upholstery is in great shape overall. Wool is a really hard-wearing choice for upholstery and so you can see that here. The webbing underneath the seat cushions looks to have been reinforced so is in good order too. The solid teak frame is in very good condition with just minor signs of use and one small area of light wear on the right arm to flag. In the overall context of the arm it’s barely noticeable. It’s a really nicely crafted chair with no areas of concern. Although no maker’s mark we attribute this with confidence to Erik Wortz, a piece designed for IKEA, 1960s.
