Midcentury 1960s Freestanding Tall Teak Shelf Wall Unit by Interflex

A bit like Ladderax but not, these tall, multi-use storage and display wall units by Interflex are freestanding so come with a little more versatility. Components parts – in this case a lower cupboard with sliding doors, a shelf and an open double shelf bookcase – can be configured to suit as they simply screw to the black metal uprights on either side. This particular piece is perfect for a turntable and vinyl but if that’s not your thing, the options are endless, mixing both on-show display with hidden storage in one. Dating from the 1960s, this unit is in truly outstanding shape with just lights signs of its years, rare for a shelf unit as they’re often rather battered and bruised. And high-rise, slender units like this work so well in an alcove or the recess by a chimney breast.

Description

This is an original, vintage unit that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have checked, cleaned and polished this piece, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces but otherwise the finish is original. There are three components that screw to the black metal uprights – an open, double bookcase, a shelf and a double door cupboard. All elements are in fantastic condition with just light signs of wear and aging. The cupboard doors slide easily in their runners and all interiors are clean and tidy. It’s a freestanding piece and you can configure the three components parts differently with basic home tools. It’s well made with no signs of repair or areas of concern. There is no maker’s label but these Interflex units are well-documented and so we attribute with confidence. Do browse our numerous photos for an accurate sense of colour and c0ndition. And you’re welcome to ask questions and view the item. Just ask.
