Large Midcentury 1970s Danish Brutalist Armchair
The proportions of this Danish 1970s chair are particularly indulgent. It’s almost a 1.5 seater in width and depth, giving you plenty of room to tuck up legs, pile on blankets and even cuddle up with the dog or cat. The wooden teak frame is rather Brutalist in design with sharp angles and clean lines, giving a blocky, boxy silhouette from each side. This is offset by the two chunky seat cushions, which give just the right amount of soft, comfortable support. A fine-looking, perhaps masculine chair which will work as a standalone seat or mix in with other lounge seating easily.
Description
This original, vintage armchair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been checked, the wooden frame cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The two separate cushions have been checked and vacuumed. The striped beige and brown upholstery is in remarkably good shape. The cushions have deep, plump foam inners and working zips and there are no marks or signs of wear to flag. The finishing underneath the seat cushions is in very good order too. The solid teak frame is in good – very good condition with some minor signs of wear and tear. Light scuffs, marks and scrapes here and there which can be seen across our photos but nothing specific to flag. It’s a really nicely designed and well built chair with no areas of concern. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a direct import from Denmark and dates from 1970s. Do browse our photos for an accurate representation of its great condition. If you have any questions or would like to view the chair, please get in touch.
