Large Antique Georgian Bow Front Mahogany Chest of Drawers

A grand, bow-front, antique, Georgian chest of drawers in richly toned, dark mahogany. With five generous, graduated drawers, in a two over three configuration, there’s ample storage space here. The large brass plate, hanging handles are original and it sits on bracket feet. This is a very old piece that comes scarred and bruised across all its surfaces – do browse through our photos for a good sense of this – but we love the imperfections of the antique timber and the history it holds. For all the marks and knocks, it’s very well-made and has already proved its longevity. Full of old-fashioned character and charm, it has a great deal to offer.

Description

This antique, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in fair – good, rustic condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. All five drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have the original brass plate handles securely in place. The drawers are clean inside but the top two drawers a little more marked than the others which we have shown. As you can see from our numerous photos, the wood is marked, chipped and scarred across all its surfaces. We feel this only adds to the appeal of such an aged piece but we know this isn’t for everyone – please do browse our photos. The knocks and bruises are superficial and just skin-deep. It’s well made, solid and stable. There is no maker’s mark but its origins are British. Sadly, we do not have a key for the brass locks. Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with our delivery partners who cover most of the country (enquire for Scotland or remote addresses) and are reliable and insured – we have worked with them for many years. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later.
