Large 50 Piece Boxed Set of Midcentury Viners ‘Bark’ Studio Cutlery by Gerald Benney
Although unmistakably midcentury, the appeal of this particular cutlery design by master silversmith and goldsmith, George Benney, for British maker, Viners, endures. Across eight original boxes of stainless steel cutlery, there are 50 individual pieces, hardly used. Indeed, some is unused entirely, still in its tissue paper wrapping. The particular design is called ‘Bark’ and a bark-like patination is seen on the slender, elongated handles of each piece. Each set of six pieces comes in its original, 1960s box and each box is complete. Although not housed in a canteen, this is a generous and complete set of vintage cutlery, wonderfully preserved.
Description
These vintage sets of 1960s cutlery are ‘sold as seen’. They are in very good, used condition. The cutlery itself is in excellent order and we believe some of it is unused as pieces are still wrapped in tissue paper. The branded boxes that each set is housed in are a little dogeared and worn here and there as we’ve shown, and the moulded surround of the ‘Table Knife’ set has cracked, as shown in our photos. There are just the lightest signs of wear and tear to the stainless steel on some of the pieces. In total there are of 50 individual pieces across eight boxes:
Coffee Spoons x 6
Teaspoons x 6
Fruit Spoons x 6
Soup Spoons x 6
Table Knives x 6
Table Forks x 6
Pairs of Fish Eaters x 6 (12 pieces)
Pair of Carvers x 1 (2 pieces – carving knife and fork)
